May 6th - Let's Go Fly A Kite

On Friday, May 6th students are invited to participate in an educational, fun-filled day of kite-making. Students will learn about the historical timeline of flight, world cultural traditions associated with kites, as well as the principals of flight. Students will also design and create their own kite. Weather permitting, we will spend the last half of the session flying them.

PLUS MORE: There will be Brain Blasters during the second session.

Younger Grades (K-2nd Grade)

Session 1: 8:00 - 9:55 am - Let's Go Fly A Kite
Session 2: 10:00 - 11:00 am - Brain Blasters

Older Grades (3rd-6th Grade)

Session 2: 10:00 - 12:00pm - Let's Go Fly A Kite

Busses will pick up at the regularly scheduled morning times and will return at noon. Out of town students will need to stay for both sessions unless a parent arranges to pick them up.

April 15th: Tie-Dye

Friday Enrichment Activity Invitation:
Terrific Tie-Dye
On Friday, April 15th students are invited to participate in creating their own tie-dye garments.  We will also be creating tie-dye paper.  Because we will be working with paint and dyes that will stain, students need to wear appropriate work clothing.
Younger Grades (K – 2nd Grade)
·         Session 1 :       8:00 am – 9:55 am

Older Grades (3rd – 6th Grade)

·         Session 2:        10:00am – 12:00 pm

Mosaic Masks

Friday Enrichment Activity Invitation:
Mosaic Masks
On Friday, April 1st students are invited to participate in making mosaic masks.  The students will explore the elements and principals of the mosaic art form.  They will also gain experience using color, pattern, texture, and variety to create a cohesive design.
Younger Grades (K – 2nd Grade)
·         Session 1 :       8:00 am – 9:55 am

Older Grades (3rd – 6th Grade)

·         Session 2:        10:00am – 12:00 pm
Busses will pick up at the regularly scheduled morning times and will return at noon – Out of town students will need to stay for both session unless a parent arranges to pick them up.

·       Students will be sharing their presentations with their classmates, in preparation for the evening community open-house – “It’s a Big World After All.”
·        “It’s a Big World After All” – evening open house from 6:00 – 7:00. International appetizers will be provided.  Invite your family and friends. Vote for your favorite presentations!

Children of All Lands

Friday Enrichment Activity Invitation:
Children and Music of all Lands & World Fair Presentation Workday

On Friday, March 4th students are invited to participate in an exploration of life for children around the world.  Students will learn about how children from other counties might dress, eat, and play as well as explore various international music styles.
PLUS MORE: The students who are creating presentations for the world fair will have the opportunity to work on their presentations in the computer lab.

Feb. 25th - A Tour of the Past

Friday Enrichment Activity Invitation:
A Tour of the Past w/Dick Perue, Story-Telling Rehearsal, and Pizza Party!
What was it like living in the Platte River Valley nearly one-hundred years ago?  What would ranch kids do for fun?  How has life changed since then?  How has it stayed the same?  On February 25th students are invited to learn the answers to all these questions and more through a special multi-media presentation by local historian Dick Perue.  Students will even get to take home a piece of history for themselves!  Please plan on meeting in the library.
Plus More: There will be a story-telling rehearsal for all participants.  Please plan on attending this rehearsal so you will be ready to participate in the March performance!
Plus Pizza!!

Feb.11th - Cake Decorating

Friday Enrichment Activity Invitation:
Cake Decorating /
Valentine Making Party
Back by popular demand, on Friday, February 11th students are invited to learn about and participate in cake decorating.  Students will be working with fondant and pipe icing to create masterpieces of their own design.  Students will also have the opportunity to create their own paper valentines. 
Session 1: 8:00 am – 9:55 am K-2nd Grades
Session 2:  10:00 am – 12:00 pm for 3rd-6th Grades

Busses will pick up at the regularly scheduled morning times and will return at noon.
***Special Note:  This is a potentially messy project involving greasy icing and food dyes.  Please have your student wear appropriate work clothes. ***
